Enhancements: This upgrade to the switching architecture will provide additional CPU and RAM for increased throughput, newer firmware for addtional stability, and increased fault tolerance for improved network resiliency.

DSC is proud to announce that starting next month, Tuesday December 1, 2015 during our normal Maintenance Windows from midnight-6am EDT, DSC will be performing major upgrades on our Core Routers and Switches that will more than double our core routing performance as well as doubling the RAM of our core routers and increase our core switching performance over 500%! This will require a restart or cutover of each Core Router or Switch.

Our Engineering and Technical Support staff will be onsite during the Maintenance and vendors will be on call as necessary, but we anticipate this to be very minimally customer affecting. As each piece of gear is upgraded or replaced there should be just a minimal amount of downtime as all routes converge on the upgraded or replaced equipment. The work will commence Dec 1st and should be fully completed over the next few weeks by the end of the year.

Summary Description: Metro Ethernet Services to a small subset of customers served North of Downtown Atlanta were impacted due to a loss of fiber connectivity. The Local Exchange Carrier reported a card failure out of one of its Central Offices.

Customer Impact: Moderate – DSC and other Metro Ethernet Providers servicing customers North of Downtown Atlanta were affected by this outage. DSC was able to provide continuous service during the outage period through two of its backup circuits. The service was slower, but not down.

Summary Description: During A planned power maintenance by our downtown data center provider, we experienced unexpected total power loss. We were able to restore power from their mistake but during this time all power was temporarily out to the DSC equipment.

Customer Impact: Severe – Customers served out of our Atlanta location experienced approximately 30 minutes of outage while backup power was restored.

Plan for improvement: DSC is currently working with the provider to ensure this does not happen again. DSC is also exploring other more robust power backup solutions.

Customer Impact: Moderate – Several DSC Metro Ethernet customers served out of our downtown facility experienced a 10 minute loss of service.
