It's a nice upgrade for the server and should only mean a small window of downtime. We expect to start this work around 10:30-midnight and for the work to take an hour to complete. If anything changes we will update the NocStatus page on our website and email the list again. Thanks for your patience while we improve our servers and our service! Friday April 8th, 2005 - Tuesday, April 12th, 2005, DSC will be performing an upgrade to our primary mailserver at 10pm Tuesday night. During the upgrade procedure the email server will be unavailable. This should last for approximately 2hrs. New incoming email will get queued on one of our backup servers during the upgrade. If you need assistance, or have questions, please call 770-614-3720. Thank you! Wednesday January 12th, 2005 - Last night, the planned server maintenance (see below the rescheduled maintenance for January 18th) went awry. Before even getting to this service work, the raid array in the server malfunctioned and had to be rebuilt. That took several hours and was back to being fully functional as of about 10am today! We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and we have rescheduled the work to take place starting NEXT Tuesday night. Thank you! Tuesday January 18th, 2005 - will be performing standard Windows Maintenance patches, backups and such that will cause a few hours of down time. This will take place at 11:59pm and last until completed (expect three hours). This is a mandatory maintenance, so please make whatever arrangements are necessary.
Thank you! Tuesday January 25th, 2005 - DSC will be performing Windows Server Maintenance related to IIS. This service will not likely effect anyone noticibly. you! Tuesday December 14th, 2004 - We'll be doing a brief bit of power work to install a new APC Masterswitch so we can remotely turn on and off power to various servers and devices. Since the core router has multiple power supplies we'll be moving one at a time and there will be no service interruption there. Everything else will see a quick blip at around midnight as a power cable is unplugged from one device and plugged into another. All work should be extremely quick and the whole thing should be over in 15 minutes or less. Thanx and Happy Holidays! Thank
you! Tuesday November 16th, 2004 - Tuesday November 16th after 10pm, DSC will be performing some late night maintenance on it's 56 Marietta Facility. We will be moving a Dual T3 card from our core router to the edge router to free up more ports on the core for more direct backbone connections and moving one or two more connections directly to the core. Only T1 customers homed out of 56 Marietta will experience any downtime and it should be brief. We expect this service window to be between 10pm and 2am. Thank you for your
patience!
Tuesday October 26th, 2004 - We are reloading the AtWater Edge router - should be a VERY brief reset then 5-10 minutes later a short 3-5 min reboot as the router reloads the new IOS. T1 and SDSL customers may experience a brief flucuation in the force Thank you!!!
Tuesday October 19th, 2004 - Tonight we did minor maintenance on our Core Switch which required 5 minutes of down time. Also, we are performing minor maintenance on our primary DNS Server to improve it's life span. That will require approximately 30 minutes of down time for this server. This server hosts a small amount of web sites and handles DNS queries. If anything goes wrong with that upgrade, we will update this page with more info. Thank you for your patience! Thank you!!! Monday October 18th, 2004Today, one of our upstream providers has been experiencing some higher than normal latency. We have been working with them and have identified that it is actually a BellSouth Metro E problem and they are working on it now. If you are experiencing these latency issues, please be patient and they will be resolved ASAP! If you need further assistance, email support and open a trouble ticket. Thank you!!! Saturday October 16th, 2004Saturday, October 16th, Our core switch blew a processor and was down for about two hours while we replaced it with a new one. We will be scheduling another brief outage Tuesday night to add a secondary processor to that switch to hopefully prevent this in the future. The outage while we add the other processor will be late at night and will only take a few minutes. Thank you for
your patience and understanding while we improve our network once again!!! Monday October 11th, 2004 Tuesday night, October 12th, DSC will be performing an upgrade to the
Customer Ticketing System. This is expected to be a brief outage of the Ticket System and then it will be back
running with some great new features to make it even better for our customers! Thanks!
Tuesday September 7th, 2004Last Saturday, we experienced an emergency downtime on one of our links that effected some of our customers. The 100MB link between two of our facilities was supposed to be upgraded from 100MB to 1000MB on Saturday morning at 8am. The downtime should have been just a few minutes, and no more than 30, but due to numerous BellSouth errors on the order and equipment failure with some of the BellSouth equipment, the downtime wound up being more like a few hours. Once the proper hardware was acquired and put in place, and the proper pads on the fiber in the CO were put in place, everything came up working great! The downtime was unfortunate, but the link between the two locations is now GIG-E!!! Thank you for your patience and understanding while we improve our network once again!!!
Tuesday September 7th, 2004Last week we upgraded the mail server. Some of our customers had been storing their mail on the server rather downloading it...if you seem to have lost some email, or just want to be sure, simply go to the POP3 server setting in your email client and change it to oldmail.dscga.com Using the same username and password, and you should be able to download any old mail left on that server. Once you have done so, that account will never be needed or used again, so simply change your POP3 server name back to mail.dscga.com and that's that! Call anyone in tech support if you need further assistance or email support@dscga.com to open a trouble ticket with DSC. Thank you!
Tuesday August 24th, 2004 The upgrade to our primary mail server that started last week was postponed
while we waited for some parts to come in. We decided to make it even more powerful. Luckily, the majority of the work
that would impact our users was completed last week, so tonight was much easier. We upgraded to the following:
Thank you! Tuesday August 24th, 2004 Tuesday night DSC will be performing maintenance on it's network, upgrading it's primary Mail Server and beefing up RAM in one of it's servers. The outages for these servers is expected to begin around midnight and each one is only expected to last a few minutes. Please pardon our progress, while we improve the network for your use! Thank you! Wednesday July 14th, 2004 Last night, DSC implemented a new processor for the primary router at the Atwater location. We went from a processor that handled 300,000 packets per second to the NPEG1 that handles 1,000,000 packets per second!!! Recently we have sustained a few DDOS attacks, and this processor should eliminate the effects you might have seen from those types of attacks. Also, it should improve speed and performance overall on our network, We hope this improves service for you and your company as well! Thank you! Thursday May 20th, 2004 Tuesday night, May the 25th, we will be doing planned Customer Co-Lo NOC maintenance. This will cause a service interruption for those customers located in our CoLo NOC for a brief period of time...we expect approx. two hours. Thank you for your patience during this enhancement. Thank you for your patience! Tuesday May 18th, 2004 Tonight we upgraded one of our primary name servers to a much newer and faster machine. You should notice extremely increased speeds with DNS requests and if you are a proxy user at DSC you should see much increased speeds there as well. Enjoy! Tuesday May 4th, 2004 Tonight, during our regularly planned Tuesday Night Maintenance, we will be working on two issues to improve service for customers. Co-Location customers will lose power momentarily while we shuffle some UPS power around to maximize power and minimize chances of downtime. All of those customers have been notified. Also, we will be downing our mail server to add more RAM. Thank you for your patience! Tuesday April 13th, 2004 As part of our continued work to move to the OC3 SmartRing, DSC will have a planned outage for all Dial Up Internet Customers tonight at 8pm. We expect this outage to last for one hour. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we improve our networks reliability for you! If you are a Dial Up Internet Customer, you will need to change your dial number to 770-904-2785. Call us at 770-614-3720 if you need assistance in changing the dial number.
Thank you for your patience! Thursday March 18th, 2004 DSC will be performing planned maintenance on Monday March 29th (prep work) and Tuesday March 30th. In order to allow our Co-Lo customers to take full advantage of our recent OC3 SmartRing addition, we will be moving these customers to our new Buford Co-Lo facility. This will begin at 6pm, and effect various services. All Co-Lo, dial-up and some other misc. services. We expect to be done no later than 1am if all goes smoothly. We appreciate everyone's patience while we make our network remarkably more reliable than it's already impressive redundancy!
Thank you for your patience!
Tuesday February 10th, 2004 - At midnight tonight, DSC is relocating it's equipment at 56 Marietta from the basement facility to the new "meet me" facility on the second floor. This move will double our capacity, and make it easier to partner with any of the other telecom providers at the facility if we should choose to do so. If you have any questions, please call 770-614-3720 or email support@dscga.com to open a ticket for any issues you might experience. We apologize for the invonvenience this move might cause you, but we assure you it will be as brief as possible and will have excellent benefits to our customers in the long run.
Thank you for your patience!
Tuesday January 13th, 2004 - Bellsouth will be performing an equipment upgrade to our fiber optic facilities this evening at our Clearview Avenue P.O.P. This may cause temporary internet delays from 9pm-10pm EST. Thank you very much for your patience! DSC Management Thursday August 28th, 2003 - DSC will be performing some emergency maintenance on one of our primary routers downtown this morning. We expect it to be very brief and appreciate our customers patience while we perform this upgrade. Thank you very much for your patience! DSC Management Thursday July 11th, 2003 - Three days this week, we were unfortunate enough to have our primary mail server experience some Raid Array Issues. The first time we repaired it. The second time we began making plans for a more robust server and putting that together. Today, when the problem returned again, we implemented the new server with 2GB of RAM! It should be much faster and stronger now. We also are working to restore the damaged server, and intend to use it as a hot swap back up in case this happens again to eliminate the down time. We apologize for the delay, and are confident that these problems are resolved. Thank you very much for your patience! DSC Management |
